Okada and His Concept of gthe Creation of Civilizationh
Okada
envisioned that the ideal civilization is a
world where peoplefs
healthful life is guaranteed and their life
span is extended.
We all yearn to enjoy the great
beauty of nature, breathe clean air, drink pure
water, and consume safe and nutritious food in
order to live a healthy, happy life. We all want
to lead a meaningful life, to feel that the strength
and character we were born with can contribute
to the improvement of human society. We would
all like to live out the full life span without
being plagued by sickness or suffering. Indeed,
these are our natural desires.
Mokichi Okada believed that the basic requirement
for creating such a civilization was to guarantee
a healthy life through the elimination of illness,
which would naturally result in an extended human
life span. It would also mean that people approaching
the end of their lives would do so peacefully
and without suffering. They would be able to face
their final moments with consciousness and gratitude.
Okada pointed out that illness is the primary
threat to human life because it affects everyone.
Wars, calamities, and accidents, which are increasing
every year, are secondary threats. Okadafs goal
in gthe creation of civilizationh was to make
it possible for people to live healthy, happy
lives throughout an extended life span.
